Makoto: Favorite Places in Japan
October 13, 2008
I want to talk about my favorite places in Japan. First, I like Kyoto. Kyoto has many old Japanese buildings. When I go to Kyoto, I can always see different aspects of Kyoto in each season, so I’m not tired of visiting Kyoto. Especially, the fall is the best season to go to Kyoto. Colored leaves are so beautiful and they are one of the views we Japanese are proud of, I think. In addition, there are a lot of the places to do shopping. When I was a high school student, I used to go shopping to Kyoto. Teenagers in Kyoto are fashionable and I often imitated their fashion. The second is Okayama. The nature is so wonderful for me. This summer, friend and I went to Okayama to meet our friend who lives there. There are few houses and buildings around his house and rice fields spread. I was so surprised and moved because the view was almost completely beautiful green!! I can’t see such a view in Osaka. In the evening, I heard chirp of “bell-ringing” cricket and I softened. I’m always busy and annoying in Osaka but in Okayama, I didn’t feel such feelings. The nature may have healed me. Moreover, Bikan area is a beautiful place. The area has also old buildings but they are a little different from ones of Kyoto. If I go there in the fall, I can see another aspect of the area. The third is Tokyo. There are not only fashionable and modern buildings such as Roppongi hills, but also old ones such as Kaminari gate in Asakusa. I can enjoy various aspects of Japan if I go to Tokyo. Furthermore, people in Tokyo are interesting for me. They have some dreams and come to Tokyo, so the stories about their dream give me something new and exciting. Please tell me your favorite place in Japan and why you like there.

Hi, I’m Yuka.
I like Kyoto too.
I like to walk around Kamogawa, and I often visit there.
However, I have never seen colored leaves in fall.
This is because I have many things to do in fall.
In this fall, I have to do job-hunting, but I want to visit Kyoto if I have a free time!!!

I don’t have any special places where I can recommend though,
I have one place in Osaka. It is the Yahataya Park near my house.
When I get stress or need some rest, I often go there with my dog.
Where I live is a city in Osaka, so I hardly see so much nature.
So, I go there to touch and feel nature in the park. I think my dog really likes the park as well. XD

I like Kyoto and Kobe. I like their atmosphere. Kyoto has old Japanese buildings, and Kobe has western ones. They look quite different, but they both make me imagine their history. This is very interesting. I’m also not tired of visiting there.

Hi, Makoto.
I also like Kyoto. I think almost all people in Japan think so because there are many historical things there.
I am planning to go there in this autumn. Though I take a pamphlet and research about Kyoto, I cannot find the place I will visit, so would you tell me where you recommend?

My favorite place in Japan is Tennoji, Kobe, and my hometown.
Tennoji has not so any special places, but I have many memories with there (I went often there with my darling).
Kobe is one of the very nice places in Japan, I think. The people do not so busy like people in Osaka. I was fun when my friend showed me there.
My hometown is rural places, so I can see some rice or other fields. Here is very inconvenient town to go to other places, but if you come here you can breathe fresh air!!

When I visit Kyoto, I often go to Kawaramachi. There are many fashionable shops, such as Hankyu department store, OPA and second hand clothing stores. If you want to buy clothes, I recommend Kawaramachi.
If you want to do sightseeing, I recommend Kiyomizu temple and Heian-jingu. Kiyomizu temple is a fomous temple in Kyoto. You can see beautiful view from there. Heian-jingu is also popular building in Kyoto, but I have visited there only once. However, the building was impressive because the colors are vivid.
Also, in this season, Arasiyama is the best place to go. There
are many beautiful and colorful maple trees are wating for you!! The view will make you moved. But you will face large crawd there.
I hope your visiting Kyoto will be fun!!

Hi, Makoto.
Thank you for your comment!
When the leaves get red, I want to visit there to enjoy the autumn leaves. Also, I have never been to Kiyomizu temple and Heian-jingu. There are many places I want to visit, so I should consider my plan.
Anyway, I recognize that Kyoto is fascinating me.
